Does the world need another rain jacket?
With all the jackets available, why introduce another one? Most rain jackets try to balance being both waterproof and breathable. This approach uses material and designs that are not completely waterproof or completely breathable. This compromise produces jackets that are highly functional for short periods of time but eventually leak or overheat in prolonged rain. A Weathershell jacket won't leak and can be vented to prevent overheating.
My Story
As a parent of several soccer players, over more than a decade I have frequently been in prolonged rain. I have tried many jackets, including high end and very expensive models. Over time, every jacket I have used eventually leaked or caused me to overheat and sweat. Not wanting to settle for this damp and miserable experience, I recently started using a jacket that is fully waterproof and has some venting. This has been a proof of concept for the solution I wish I had when just starting as a sports parent years ago, leading me to develop the idea for the Weathershell jacket, which keeps you dry both inside and outside the jacket.
